Good Morning,
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend thus far. This upcoming week in ELA we will be dealing with the issue of adversity that appears frequently in Dragonwings. The main character faces many trials and tribulations and we will be working on connecting his struggles to real life issues. Many different aspects of history and present day issues will be discussed. This will lead into an essay that students will write about a barrier that they have encountered in their lives. In addition to this theme, we will also be doing our updated I-Ready exam to address our strengths and areas of improvement. Have a great week! Ms. Biggs This week, we are working on learning how to properly ask questions and dive deeper into our understanding of our readings and each other. Our focus has included levels of questioning and accountable talk. We are also working on developing an essay connecting the themes from both Dragonwings and The Lost Garden. The activities of this week will lead us to working on Socratic Seminars within the next few weeks. Our goal is to learn to speak to one another and do it appropriately and with respect.
Hope everyone has a great week! Ms. Biggs Welcome to my website. I hope that this site will help answer any confusion about ELA that comes up during the school year! I worked hard to develop a website that offered you many options to explore and have hopes to continue developing it further as the year goes on. If you have suggestions for more to add to this site, please let me know!
This week in class, we have been focusing on understanding perception and point of view. Point of view is very difficult to understand but it is so important; not only in literature, but in our daily lives. Students should be working on creating connections between themselves, the texts, and working to better understand one another! Have a great week! Ms. Biggs |
